Key Points:
Attack chain: Personal cell phone call → Fake IT login page → Password and MFA code capture → Ransom demand of $750,000 to $3 million per firm.
Scope: Over 200 organizations were breached or targeted in a five-week vishing sweep, including Blackstone, KKR, Apollo, Bain Capital, Bridgewater, TPG, Citadel, Point72, Two Sigma, Millennium, CME Group, and Moody's.
If disclosures widen: If any firm confirms a payment or if stolen M&A files, portfolio books, or VIP client lists surface publicly, expect immediate SEC scrutiny and potential price dislocation in named deal targets.
Attacker take: One bitcoin wallet tied to the four crews (Falcon, Helix, Pink, Redact) has received roughly $10 million in payments so far this year.
His personal cell phone rang. He picked up. The voice said it was from IT. Fix a glitch, log in real quick. He did. That one call may cost his firm millions.
This happened at the biggest names on Wall Street. Blackstone. KKR. Apollo. Bridgewater. Citadel. Point72. Two Sigma. Moody's. Firms that hold your 401(k). Firms that rate the bonds in your retirement account.
This is where Elon Musk is housing an AI technology that Jeff Brown believes will help power the next monster IPO on Wall Street.
You see, while everyone was distracted by the SpaceX IPO…
Elon Musk quietly started backing a NEW AI startup that has been called…
"The fastest-growing business in the history of capitalism."
And Jeff will also show you how to claim a stake for as little as $50.
I can't stop thinking about this.
Google's threat team put out the full scope on Thursday. Over 200 firms got hit or nearly hit in just five weeks. The hackers used no fancy tools. They just called people. They pretended to be help desk. They walked the worker through a fake login page. The worker typed in his password. He typed in his two-factor code. That was all it took.
Here's what worries me. These are the firms with the tallest walls. They spend hundreds of millions a year on cyber. They have teams of experts. And a phone call got past all of it.
One security guy said it plain. The fence is so tall now, we just trick the guard into opening the door.
I keep picturing that call.
You are at your desk. You are tired. Your cell rings. A calm voice says he is from the help desk. He knows your name. He knows your job title. He says there is an issue with your account. Log in real quick, he says. So you do. The page looks right. You type your password. You type the code from your phone. You hang up. You go back to your emails.
You just handed over the keys. To all of it.
What did they take? Deal files. Mergers not yet public. The books of every firm these giants own. Client lists with the richest names in America. Some source code, too. The exact stuff you would need to trade a stock before the news hits. Or shake down the people who move the market.
“Cobots” Are Transforming This $1T Market
The “Cobots” Your Favorite Restaurants Already Use
They're not replacing humans; they're working alongside them. That's the promise of "cobots," or collaborative robots.
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang called the robotics market "one of the largest industries ever." The cobot segment alone is projected to grow 15X by 2035.
NVIDIA collaborator Miso Robotics is already proving its value inside the $1T fast-food industry. Here's what today’s investment opportunity looks like:
Live traction: Flippy, Miso's famous AI fry station robot, has logged 200,000+ hours in real working kitchens for iconic brands like White Castle
Profit impact: Restaurants using Flippy can see profits increase up to 3X
Revenue potential: Flippy alone has an estimated $4B/year revenue opportunity in the US
Blue-chip validation: Ecolab, a global industry powerhouse, has already validated Miso with a critical investment
Patent portfolio: As you may have seen in the press, Miso just acquired 300+ patents from food-robotics pioneer Zume Pizza, growing its IP portfolio 10X and building what it believes is the largest AI and robotics patent portfolio in the food industry

The ransom notes go out fast. Most demand $750,000 to $3 million. One bitcoin wallet linked to the crews has taken in $10 million just this year. The gangs go by Falcon, Helix, Pink, and Redact. Nobody knows for sure who they are.
I get it. This can sound far away. You do not work at Bain Capital. You do not park your cash at Citadel. So why does it touch us?
Because these firms touch us back. Blackstone runs a piece of the pensions that pay retired teachers and cops. Moody's rates the bonds your fund holds. CME sits under the trades that set the price of a gallon of gas. The data these hackers grabbed can move a market. It can move the market your 401(k) is in.
I don't think most people realize how thin the line is. A man answers his phone. A whole system shakes.
And here is the piece I keep turning over. Nobody had to break in. The door was opened. From the inside. By a good person who thought he was helping.
There is a small, ugly comfort in this. All those years of being told the big firms have it figured out. All those glossy reports about risk teams and cyber budgets. Turns out the weakest link is the same as it is at your shop. A tired man. A friendly voice. A password.
The firms have not said much. A few put out short statements. Some are quiet. Some may not know yet what was taken. The FBI is looking. So is Google. The four crews are still out there. The calls are still going out.
I will keep watching this. If we learn who paid and how much, you will hear it from me first. If the SEC steps in, same deal. If any of the stolen files start to leak, we will know fast. They always do.
For now, one small thing. If your phone rings and someone says he is from IT, hang up. Call your own help desk back. Every time.
More on this tomorrow.
